Toronto Raptors guard Leandro Barbosa can opt out of his contract this summer and word came this weekend from a Brazilian site that he was considering doing so and heading back to his Brazilian homeland instead of hanging around North America and waiting to see what happens with the collective bargaining agreement negotiations between the NBA and its players association.
SLAM Online spoke with Barbosa’s brother and advisor, Artur Barbosa, who said he has had "conversations with Flamengo as well as other clubs in Brazil."
"It would be irresponsible to not consider the Brazilian option," Artur said, according to SLAM. "We are from Brazil and we see that the Brazilian economy is booming. There is a lot of money being invested in Brazil these days."
Barbosa is expected to receive contract offers from Brazilian clubs in the next 7-10 days, the site notes.
